Bring your snippets over from any text expander
Switching shouldn’t mean retyping. Snipora finds your old snippets on first launch and brings them over, fill-ins and all.

Quick answer
On first launch Snipora looks for Text Replacements, Espanso, Alfred, aText, Keyboard Maestro and Typinator on your Mac and offers Bring them over. Exports from TextExpander, Raycast, CSV and JSON come in through Import a file…. Tokens are converted where there’s an equivalent, and a report lists everything that needed a change. Nothing is dropped silently.

What it imports
| From | How |
|---|---|
| macOS Text Replacements | Found on first launch |
| Espanso, Alfred, aText | Found on first launch, read from their own files |
| Keyboard Maestro | Found on first launch: macros whose one action types text |
| Typinator | Found on first launch and asked directly; macOS checks you’re fine with that first |
| TextExpander | Import its exported file |
| Raycast | Import its exported JSON |
| TypeIt4Me, Rocket Typist, PhraseExpress | Through their CSV export |
What gets converted
- Cursor, clipboard, date, fill-in and pop-up tokens become Snipora’s
{cursor},{clipboard},{date},{field:…}and{choice:…}. - Abbreviations get a
;in front, soomwbecomes;omw. One that already starts with a symbol keeps it. - Tokens with no equivalent stay as text and are named in the report.
- Snippets that press keys or run scripts ask before they’re added.
Where it is in Snipora
- First launch: the Bring your snippets over screen lists what it found. Click Bring them over.
- Later: Import a file… on that screen, or in Snipora’s window.
- Read the report, then fix anything it names.
Your snippets can go out again too: Export… writes open JSON with every abbreviation, text and rule.
Questions people ask
- Does importing change my old app?
- No. Snipora only reads. Keep both until you’re happy, but switch one off so they don’t both expand the same abbreviation.
- How many snippets can I import on the free plan?
- Up to 15, the free plan’s limit. The report says how many didn’t fit; after Go unlimited, import again for the rest.
Snipora is free for up to 15 snippets. No account.
