A text expander for your Mac’s menu bar

Write it once.
Type it in four keys.

Type ;addr in any app and Snipora turns it into your address. Same for the reply you send every day, your signature, today’s date. Then it notices what you keep retyping, and offers to save you the trouble.

Free for 15 snippets · lifetime $29.99 for the first 50 buyers (then $39.99)

Three keys, then the whole thing

No new habits. You keep typing; the abbreviation turns into the text before you’ve looked up.

01
;addr

Type the abbreviation

Anywhere you can type: Mail, Slack, Notion, Xcode, Terminal, a web form. Starting with ; means it never fires inside real words.

02
14 Rue des Lilas
75011 Paris, France

It becomes the text

Snipora pastes the snippet instead of typing it, so it lands at once, formatting and emoji intact. Your clipboard is put back afterwards.

03
esc ;addr

Didn’t mean it? Esc

Press Esc right after and the abbreviation comes back, exactly as you typed it.

It notices what you keep typing

Type the same phrase three times and Snipora offers to make it a snippet, with an abbreviation already picked. It all happens in memory, on your Mac.

  • Counts the last few words you type, in memory only; nothing is written to disk
  • Never sent anywhere, and gone the moment you quit
  • Single words never count, so a password typed in a terminal can’t come back
  • Password fields are hidden from it by macOS
  • One switch turns it off, and “What we see” shows what it holds

Typing in Slack

    When it can’t expand, it tells you why

    Password fields and apps like 1Password switch on Secure Input, and macOS hides every keystroke from every app. Instead of going quiet, Snipora names the app, offers to quit it, and keeps the paste picker working.

    You decide when it expands

    Instantly, when you finish the word, or only when you press Tab. Try each one on omw.

    Expands the moment the abbreviation is complete.

    Fill in the blanks, pick from a list

    A snippet can ask before it expands. A name, a choice from a list, the date two weeks from today: you fill in the small form, it writes the rest.

    Snippet ;reply

    Hi Camille, You’re on the Pro plan. Your trial ends Nov 4, 2026.

    Tokens it understands

    {date+3d}
    A date, three days from now (d, w, m, y)
    {date:next friday}
    A date in words: tomorrow, next friday, in 2 weeks
    {snippet:;sig}
    Another snippet's text, inside this one
    {time}

    {clipboard:2}

    {cursor}

    {field:Name}
    A blank to fill in
    {choice:Plan=Basic|Pro}
    A list to pick from

    One abbreviation, the right words for each place

    A snippet can expand everywhere, only in the apps and websites you choose, or everywhere except them. Switch tabs and type ;sig.

    Websites need the free Safari or Chrome extension, which tells Snipora the site’s name and nothing else.

    Your old snippets, here in one click

    On first launch Snipora looks for other expanders on your Mac and offers to bring their snippets over. Anything that can’t carry over is listed in a report. Nothing is dropped silently.

      Questions, answered

      You type a short abbreviation like `;addr` and Snipora replaces it with the full text: your address, a reply you send every day, a signature, today’s date. It works in any Mac app, from Mail and Slack to Xcode and Terminal.

      A text expander has to see what you type to notice an abbreviation, and post keystrokes to replace it. macOS puts both behind one switch, Accessibility. Snipora asks once, shows exactly where the switch is, and never sends what you type anywhere. Read the full guide

      When a password field or an app like 1Password turns on Secure Input, macOS hides every keystroke from every app, so no expander can work. Instead of failing silently, Snipora pauses, names the app holding it and offers to quit it. The ⌃⌥Space picker still pastes snippets in the meantime. Read the full guide

      Yes. On first launch Snipora looks for snippets from macOS Text Replacements, Espanso, Alfred, aText, Keyboard Maestro and Typinator and offers to bring them over in one click. TextExpander, Raycast and CSV exports come in through Import…. Abbreviations get a ; in front, so omw becomes ;omw; one that already starts with a symbol keeps it. Anything that can’t carry over is listed in a report, never dropped silently. Read the full guide

      To spot text you keep retyping, Snipora counts the last few words you type, in memory only. Nothing is saved to disk or sent anywhere, single words never count, and it’s gone when you quit. One switch turns it off, and “What we see” shows how many phrases it holds.
